Sweet and Spicy
All premium ingredients: ginger, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg
The story: In the early days of the Zen business we discovered to our surprise just how moist and delicious some cake and tea bread recipes turn out in our slow cooker. The Sweet and Spicy ground spice blend is the Zen chapter on the versatility of our slow cookers.
Zen Spice Spotlight: Cinnamon really has an unmistakable fragrance, and is warm, sweet and aromatic. In an interesting twist, while cinnamon is commonly used in sweet and baked goods, paradoxically it lends itself to blood sugar control, nature’s way of lending a hand.
Occasions: Wake up to the smell of spiced overnight steel cut oatmeal for breakfast, or for a delicious weekend family brunch try assembling our delicious Maple French Toast Casserole the night before, and slow cook it the following morning. On a Friday afternoon we slow bake a Spiced Tea Bread to be ready in time for the kids’ arrival from school, knowing that it won’t burn while we’re away from the house.
To drink: A warm cup of Morning Breakfast tea or freshly squeezed orange juice are ideal with this recipe.
