National Retail Sales Manager
What I love about my work: I love my job because everyone shares a common vision and dedication to the same mission. I am proud to work for a company that is committed to empowering adults with disabilities through employment. My job gives me the opportunity to impact people’s lives in a positive way and hopefully make a difference in the world one delicious meal at a time.
My professional experience: I was a behavior analyst for several years working primarily with children with autism. I decided to return to school and earned my master’s degree in exceptional education with a specific endorsement in autistic spectrum disorders and became an educator. I was a teacher of students with autism for 15 years and my classroom was a demonstration site for the University of Central Florida. Undergrad students would intern in my classroom to gain hands-on best practices. I loved teaching and was a passionate advocate for my students, but I was ready for a new challenge. My role at Zen of Slow Cooking has provided me with the opportunity to learn and grow professionally in a brand new field. This journey has been thrilling and terrifying and I love every minute of it!
When I am not working: I enjoy traveling and exploring new places, cultures and foods. I relish spending precious time with my family and friends, weekends at my condo at the beach, a glass of really good wine and reading a great book you just can’t put down. I am a die-hard college football fan and on Saturdays in the south you can find me at a Tennessee Tailgate! GO VOLS! GO BUCS!
My favorite Zen blend: I have a favorite recipe from every one of our blends but if I had to choose one, it would be our Coq Au Vin blend. The Artichoke and Caper Chicken served over my homemade mashed potatoes never disappoints. My husband requests this at least once a week. It’s comfort food elevated.
My favorite treats: Talenti Caramel Cookie Crunch Gelato, the decadent Cosmopolitan Cupcake from Blackbird Bakery in Bristol, VA (well worth the drive) and peanut butter-filled pretzels. YUM!
